This lone wolf pictured above had been feeding on
the carcass when things became interesting with the rest of the pacc chasing off and attacking some coyotes who had arrived
to try their luck,in the meleee this female ran towards the road where myself and lots of other photographers were standing, running
through a gap to stand and survey the situation from a hill directly behind us all. Just the opportunity I had been hoping
for!
What do you go to Yellowstone hoping to see?
Well for me personally I have been going hoping and praying for a close encounter with some of the Wolves who call the
valleys, hills and mountains of Yellowstone their home. On this trip my prayers were answered when we were lucky enough
to witness the morning after a kill. The Lamar Canyon Pack had chased and eventually killed a female elk the previous
night and we were able to watch as the inhabitants of the Lamar Valley all came to share in the feast. From Ravens,Magpies,Bald
Eagles and Golden Eagles to Coyotes and Bears everyone benefits from a wolf kill!

754M complete with broken leg gets his share.
754M the black wolf pictured above is the brother
of 755M who is the Lamar Canyon Pack. This wolf was recovering from a possible broken leg and despite his injury was
still trying to lead the way when confrontations with Coyotes were taking place!
Running my way!
Member of the Agate wolf pack.
The 2 pictures above and 1 below show members
of the Agate pack, pictured late evening on my first night in Yellowstone. We were greeted by the noise of the whole pack
howling together out of sight before 4 of the 9 wolves briefly appeared for me to grab a picture.
