The Isle of May is situated at the mouth of the River Forth and is home to one of the largest Puffin Colonies in Britain
with some 41000 breeding pairs on the island, although this number has been in decline for many from 69000 in 2003.
The Seasonal visitors return to the Isle every year to nest before heading back out into the Atlantic Ocean where they
spend the rest of the year.
Visits are made to the Island via organised boat trips generally running from the Fife town of Anstruther.
